PROTECTING RENTERS ORDINANCE – LEARN MORE

UN35 members have voted to endorse the campaign supporting the Protecting Renters Ordinance (PRO)!

The Protecting Renters Ordinance establishes a unified policy framework that strengthens tenant protections, builds enforcement infrastructure, and closes critical gaps in data, enforcement, and legal access.

Crafted by tenants’ rights groups and housing advocates, PRO is a comprehensive modernization of Chicago’s 40-year-old Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance (RLTO). Our neighborhoods have seen historic levels of displacement, and our neighbors deserve every protection available to ensure they can stay where they live. You can read more about the five major components of the ordinance here.

As part of our endorsement, we’re asking members to share our messaging related to our support of the ordinance, and reach out to local elected officials urging them to support passage of the ordinance. If you live in the 35th Ward, you can send an email to Alderman Anthony Quezada thanking him for supporting the ordinance. You can also help us talk to our neighbors about the Protecting Renters Ordinance at any of our upcoming canvasses.

About United Neighbors of the 35th Ward (UN35)

OUR VALUES START HERE.
United Neighbors of the 35th Ward (UN35) is a grassroots, independent political organization that organizes in Hermosa, Logan Square, Avondale, Irving Park, and Albany Park. We organize to unite and amplify the voices of poor and working people in our communities to participate in our local political process. We are a volunteer-led, community-funded organization.

We encourage everyone to participate how they can.

There are many opportunities within UN35
to learn about activism and volunteering with your community.

A good place to get started is speaking with one of our organizers.
One of us will give you a call when you click “Get Involved” at the top of the page and send us a response.
